So much more than a cafe

Cliffhanger - Highcliffe dining

Having been open for 11 very successful years we change according to the seasons and what our customers are looking for. Highcliffe is a bit of a hidden gem and certainly I would like to think the Cliffhanger is one of the best secrets. With time we have grown to create a vibrant, fun, family orientated restaurant with a dedicated team of professional staff.

If you have never visited us at the Cliffhanger you need to know we are so much more than a café. We had a group of 46 book for a Saturday evening recently who thought we would be the normal seaside café (wonderful review below). Yes we do serve fish and chips, but this is fresh local haddock delivered daily, with the chefs London pride beer batter, homemade tartar sauce with all the seasoning and our fabulous triple cooked chips.

Our Head Chef creates daily specials from dressed crab salad and wonderfully locally sourced produce.

Much More Than a Cafe

Recent customer comments:

‘We were a large family group of 46 celebrating an 80th birthday and a 60th anniversary. The Cliffhanger was happy to accommodate us and very sensibly requested that we pre ordered. The groups ages ranged from 12 months to 80 years and everyone was made extremely welcome. The food was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were good too. The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient and positive comments were made by the whole group. The beautiful views added to make this a wonderful evening. We can't recommend the Cliffhanger and the staff highly enough and will definitely be returning’.

‘The Cliffhanger looks like many other seaside cafes around the country but there is difference. Whereas most places looking like this would be serving cheap, cheerful, 'chips with everything' food, this one is definitely a cut above’. ‘We stopped here for lunch on a dull Tuesday to find it quite busy and, judging by the comments of 'nice to see you again' and 'see you next week' many of the customers were obviously regulars’. ‘The menu was a great mixture of safe and interesting dishes without being too outrageous. My friend had very good fish and chips whilst I had grilled fresh tuna on Salad Nicoise. The tuna came beautifully grilled and still pink in the centre whilst the salad was fresh and crisp with a nice light dressing’. ‘Friendly service and a reasonable bill completed what was a very pleasant lunch’.
